Trauma Repair
Surgery to repair injured tissue near or on the eyelid requires specialized techniques to maintain the natural function and appearance of the eyelids.
Dr. Sarcia uses very specialized techniques to repair the delicate tissues of the eyelids, which may include complex closures, skin grafts and flaps. This is done to give the tissues the best chance to heal naturally and maintain their normal function.
Generally outpatient, eyelid repair is most commonly performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation or general anesthesia depending on the patient's preference and condition.
You may engage in light activity the day after your surgery. Depending on any accompanying procedures, a return to more normal activity may take 2-4 weeks.
Proper skincare and sun protection including sunglasses are essential during healing.
Staged procedures may be required to complete a reconstructive endeavor and to reduce scarring.
Correction of your eyelids is typically covered by your insurance; please discuss your potential benefits and precertification for surgery with our staff.
